For the second year, Bloomingdales and HELP USA partnered to honor the mothers living in HELP's two domestic violence shelter for Mother's Day. As you can imagine, homeless victims of domestic violence experience a tremendous amount of stress in their lives on a daily basis - they are single parents juggling the extraordinary tasks necessary to keep their families safe and secure.
Their situations require them to care for everyone around them, leaving little or no time and/or resources to care for themselves. On May 5, 2010, Bloomingdales volunteers worked with children at HELP Harbor and Haven in crafting special gifts for their mothers. They made beautiful photo albums and picture frames to capture the memorable moments of their lives away from abuse.
Bloomingdales also provided pizza and drinks and the children enjoyed a delicious dinner. Meanwhile, their mothers were treated to massages, dinner, and gift bags. It was a memorable and wonderful day for all of the families. In the past, Bloomingdales has also partnered with HELP Harbor and Haven to celebrate Halloween and Christmas - fulfilling hundreds of "winter wishes" from children in shelter. Also, last year Bloomingdales hosted a Back-to-School Bash at the shelters including carnival games and face-painting. mso-bidi-language:#0400;}
