In response to an overwhelming need for housing in the city of Houston, Texas, HELP USA opened Corder Place Apartments in 1999, a 50-unit residence of multi-family housing serving formerly homeless families with special needs. Currently, 109 people, including 54 children, live at HELP USA's Corder Place Apartments.
At Corder Place, individuals are taught skills to find a career and provide for their families. The mission of the program is to help residents move from a dependency on the welfare system to self-sufficiency. On-site programs include case management, medical services, education programs, life skills training, parent support services and day care. Many residents work in the day care center, help maintain the facility and handle office clerical work.
